Zendala for Doodle Club

Here is a Zendala I proposed to the Doodle Club I frequent.
Maybe you'd like to try it, too?
The mandala template used is from a Dover book called
Mandala Designs by Martha Bartfeld & Alberta Hutchinson, Dover Publications, Inc., 2009.
The book comes with a CD-ROM, so one can print out the designs again and again.

This is my first go at it. It's a 7" affair created with Pigma Micron 01.
I wish I'd used something better than multipurpose printer paper.

It was a gorgeous, warm day here, made all the better by my older daughter's visit with her significant other. Yummy Thai lunch. Stroll downtown.
Horrified to see that the colored brush-tipped Sharpies used for the
Downtown Zentangle Project are fading - oh, no!

Playing with a letter tile for a downtown doodle project.
10" x 10"
All the tangles' names begin with this letter,
as a fun challenge to myself:
Reticulated, Ragz, Rain, Riverstones, Roscoe, Roxi, Roel, & Rixty.
'R' outline designed by Jen Miller.

Working away on designs for a temporary downtown doodle project
that reflects some of the offerings of our community.
Here's 10" x 10" tile number 1, in progress:

It's a lovely day for a tangle!

The fun thing about coasters is they're double-sided.

Playing with hearts, ribbons, ferns, and whimsy.
Feeling drained after a very full week,
yet thankful for the richness of life.

Oh, Valentine...

Oh, Valentine!

Nifty little fiberboard coasters, Sakura micron 01 & 03, & red fine-tip Sharpie

Doodle for Alissa Weinstein,
awesome new teacher colleague who hosted a reading for her third grade poets
at local indie BookSmart.
Authentic audience.
Magnificent teaching.
Working with Sakura Micron pens is such a delight.
They are smooth, even on the slightly rough texture of these fiberboard coasters.

Weaving a tangled web...
trying out some new-to-me patterns such as betweed, verdigogh, lily pads, groovy, socc, & shard; adding strings of my own doodlebugs

Sunday, January 25, 2015

Where to begin? Any place will do. Wherever you are. Pick a point and start drawing. Let your pen pull you into a pattern that soothes and delights you, that excites and surprises you. Let your mistakes happen; use them to challenge your resilience and commitment. Above all, have fun.
